Description
American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown RN for a Gen Med/Oncology unit requiring 2 years PCU/stepdown experience and a Michigan RN license.
Details
- Work on a Stepdown unit caring for general medicine/oncology patients
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-6, with support staff added if ratios flex higher
- Charge RN typically not included in patient assignment
- Chemo admissions decrease overall assignment ratios
- Uses Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
- Documentation completed in EPIC
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating required to other med surg areas including AU and ER to care for med surg patients
- No on-call responsibilities
- Weekend shifts assigned by manager/scheduler, remaining days available for self-scheduling
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- OCN certification preferred
- ONC or ONS certification preferred (either accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown experience required
- Oncology/chemotherapy experience preferred but not required
- Experience administering chemotherapy via IV required
- Experience starting and maintaining IVs required
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Supervisor-level references required
- Proof of flu vaccination required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include administering and monitoring chemotherapy, cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, and insulin drip titration
- Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
- Must be available for the first two weeks of the assignment
- Any RTO requests after offer acceptance must be discussed with the on-site manager
- RTO limited to no more than 10 days
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
- Previous Bronson travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
- First-time travelers may be considered
