Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring an active FL or compact license, EPIC experience, and prior travel RN experience.

Details

• PCU (Progressive Care Unit/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) setting within a hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00–7:00
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
• Floating required to other units or facilities including Cape Canaveral, Holmes Regional, Palm Bay, or Viera
• No on-call responsibilities
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

• Active FL or compact RN license required at time of submission (no pending licenses accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Prior travel RN experience required
• 2 supervisory references (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director) dated within the past year required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Flu vaccine required between 10/31-3/31 with medical or religious exemptions only

Additional Information

• Care for cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC patient populations, including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury cases
• Responsibilities may include arterial line management, central/peripheral line care, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Respiratory care duties may include ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube care, and tracheostomy management
• Cardiac monitoring responsibilities include dysrhythmia interpretation, telemetry monitoring, and rapid response team activation
• Scrubs may be any color but tops and bottoms must match, with no logos or prints allowed
• Free parking provided with a decal issued at orientation
• Timekeeping is managed through Kronos using a badge system
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Former Health First employees or contracted staff must wait at least one year before returning as a travel RN
• Local candidates accepted at the same travel rate with no radius restriction
• Travel pairs are permitted with unit leader approval, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
• All RTO requests must be submitted prior to interview, as the final schedule is determined at that time
• Required lab work must be completed within 72 hours of signing
• Orientation includes annual training modules tracked through the facility's learning management system
