Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a FL or compact license and prior telemetry/stepdown experience.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
• Float requirement to other units or facility locations within the health system, with a home base assigned
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR experience required
• Hurricane coverage requirements may apply

Requirements

• Active FL or compact RN license required at time of consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU/telemetry/stepdown experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Two supervisory references (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director) dated within the past year required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31-3/31) with medical or religious exemptions only

Additional Information

• Care for cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC patient populations, including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury cases
• Skills in cardiac and respiratory care including arterial line management, central/peripheral line care, ventilator care, chest tube management, and dysrhythmia interpretation are valued
• Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, wound care, and insulin protocols is beneficial
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Former Health First employees or contracted travelers must have a separation period of at least one year before returning
• No radius restriction; local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Travel pairs permitted with unit leader approval, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
• RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration and will be reviewed during the interview process
• Scrubs of any solid color required (no mixing tops/bottoms, no logos or prints)
• Required lab work must be completed within 72 hours of signing
• Orientation includes facility-specific modules completed annually thereafter
