Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position at a Level 1 Trauma facility requiring 3-5 years of CVICU experience and an active IL license.
Details
- Acute care setting in a 20-bed Adult Cardiovascular ICU, all private rooms with continuous nurse monitoring
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 2:1 depending on acuity
- Patient population includes post open heart surgical patients (CABG, Valves, Dissections, AAA), vascular procedures, STEMI, unstable angina, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, TAVRs, and ventilated patients
- Utilizes specialty intervention equipment including IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, ECMO, external pacemakers, and CRRT
- Manages PICC, midline, CVC, Swan, and arterial lines (radial and femoral)
- RNs are required to titrate multiple drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epinephrine, norepinephrine, vasopressin, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, and heparin
- All patients connected to Philips monitoring with RNs expected to read and interpret strips independently
- Charge nurses and house supervisors available 24/7
- PCTs available with ratios ranging from 1:12 to 1:15
- Respiratory therapists in house 24/7, with RNs expected to assist with ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, and heated high flow
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a)
- Every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday for night shift)
- Every other holiday required
- Float to every level of care, taking a full patient assignment
- EPIC EMR used
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required
- BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS preferred, CCRN a plus
- 2+ years of RN experience required; 3-5 years of CVICU experience strongly preferred
- Must be proficient in all CVICU components with the exception of immediate post-op, VAD, and transplant care
- Strong skills in strip interpretation, assessment, critical thinking, and communication
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-stress environment with minimal onboarding time
- Negative drug screen required for all panels
Additional Information
- Work alongside CV APNs/PAs and CCS APNs/PAs with providers available on call
- Receive 12 hours of non-billable orientation
- No particular scrub color required, but attire must be clean and appropriately fitted; scrubs not provided
- Local candidates welcome, with local rate applying to those within 50 miles of the facility
- No radius rule restricting eligibility for the position
