Description
American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist for an acute care hospital setting requiring 2+ years of experience and BLS certification.
Details
- Inpatient acute care and rehab unit within a Level 1 trauma hospital
- Treats patients of all ages with orthopedic, neurological, and general medical diagnoses
- 21-bed unit with average caseload of 4-5 patients per day
- Primary schedule is Monday-Friday, generally 7:30am-4:00pm
- Requires 1-2 weekends per month, which may include both days with a day off before and/or after
- No call requirements
- Utilizes Epic EMR for computerized charting
- Access to specialized equipment including UE Bioness and Dynavision
Requirements
- Current, active Occupational Therapist license required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- BLS certification required
- Acute care experience with medically complex and unstable patients preferred
- Strong critical thinking and assessment skills for discharge planning
Additional Information
- Provide evaluations, treatment interventions, modalities, FIMs, and documentation for patients with complex medical, physical, and cognitive challenges
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team on discharge planning, scheduling, and hand-off communication
- May supervise certified occupational therapy assistants, aides, and students
- Manage a high-volume, dynamic caseload requiring flexibility and prioritization
- Department-specific orientation includes 1-2 days of computer documentation training plus additional onboarding over several days
- Dress code is business casual (no jeans) or approved scrub colors (Ceil Blue, Khaki, Gray, Chocolate Brown)
- All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
- Local candidates will be considered
