Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN with at least 2 years of ER experience and Epic proficiency for a night shift assignment.
Details
- Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital with 75 staffed beds
- General ED serving a combined adult/pediatric population in a non-trauma setting
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7p-7a)
- Weekend and as-needed holiday shifts required
- No on-call requirements
- May be required to float between Downtown and Northeast campuses based on census and staffing needs
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or Compact license in hand prior to start
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
- Experience interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Experience administering continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressors
- Experience caring for CVA, neuro-trauma, and spinal cord injury patients
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Skilled in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
- Social Security Number required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of acute and trauma-related presentations including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, head injuries, and near-drowning cases
- Royal blue scrubs required for the ER unit
- Must reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility for the standard travel pay rate; local candidates may be considered at a reduced rate
- Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the required ER experience
- All requested time off must be submitted with the application and is subject to facility approval
- During hurricane season (June through November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
- Completion of pre-start facility modules is required, averaging about 4 hours
