Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ED experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in a 43-bed Emergency Department, including 8 Clinical Decision behavioral health beds and 4 beds used for FSED admissions/holding
- Average daily census of approximately 145 patients
- General ED population ranging from pediatric to geriatric, including trauma stabilization, respiratory illness, stroke, behavioral health, acute MI, and uncontrolled diabetes cases
- Admission rate of 25-30%
- RN to patient ratio of 1:3-4 based on acuity, with CNA support ratios varying by shift
- 12-hour day shift schedule, 7A-7P, with other available shift times including 9a-9p, 11a-11p, 3p-3a, and 7p-7a
- 36 standard hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within Region 2, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, any Freestanding ED, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, Levine Children's Hospital)
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, Rover communication devices, Panda Infant Warmers, and LUCAS devices
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI
- TNCC certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- General ED skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation
- Epic EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across a broad ED population, from trauma stabilization to behavioral health and acute medical conditions
- Supported by a robust care team including HCT/Unit Secretary, Paramedics, free-floating Charge Nurse, Patient Safety Attendants, a dedicated ED Pharmacist (7a-11p), Social Worker, Scheduler, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, ED Physicians and APPs, Geriatric APP, and 24/7 Hospitalist and Intensivist coverage
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Free parking available
- Facility culture described as welcoming, helpful, and busy
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered
- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if returning from a permanent position
