Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN with Charge Nurse experience to work nights in a high-risk L&D unit, requiring an active AK RN license in hand.
Details
- High-risk Labor and Delivery unit with 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
- Average of 7 deliveries daily, with up to 14 patients during inductions and high-risk antepartum care
- OB Triage averages 4-5 third trimester testing patients plus additional daily triage patients
- Facility performs 100-200 births per month
- Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12), working 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- May float to similar units within the facility or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Epic EMR used for charting
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required in hand prior to offer
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
- BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced, and NRP certifications required
- Charge Nurse experience preferred or willingness to train for charge role
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Experience with high-risk antepartum, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, fetal monitoring, and postpartum care
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products
- 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Proof of required certifications and active professional license at time of consideration
- Hepatitis B vaccination required (titers or declinations not accepted)

- Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma acute care hospital recognized as a USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska
- Charge Nurse responsibilities expected on a regular basis
- Scrubs provided by facility
- Free parking available
- Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered
- Former permanent staff must have a minimum 3-month separation before returning as a traveler
- Travelers are limited to a maximum of 1 year in this assignment before requiring a 6-month break prior to returning
- Time off requests are approved individually at the time of offer and must be submitted upfront
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
