Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for an LDRP unit requiring AWHONN certification and at least 1 year of L&D experience.

Details

• Acute care Level IV Trauma Critical Access Hospital with 46 acute care beds and 22 long-term care beds
• LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) unit setting
• Day shift (7:00-19:00) and Night shift (19:00-7:00), 3x12-hour variable schedule
• Weekend shifts required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs, including to sister facilities
• Uses Epic for charting
• Scrub color is any or business casual

Requirements

• Active AK RN license required (Compact license must be in hand at submission)
• Minimum 1 year of L&D/LDRP experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, use of infusion pumps/drips
• Labor and delivery management skills including assisting with vaginal delivery, forceps/vacuum extraction, and managing hemorrhage/shock
• Medication administration experience including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and Terbutaline
• Neonatal care skills including APGAR scoring, newborn assessment, and thermoregulation
• Postpartum care skills including fundus/lochia/perineum care, Foley catheter management, and breastfeeding support
• Fetal monitoring skills including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and use of external fetal monitoring
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Social Security Number and date of birth required for submission

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum phases
• Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, triage of obstetrical patients, and antepartum care
• Perform newborn care including circumcision site assessment, car seat education, and discharge teaching to parents
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests considered based upon request, with submission at time of application recommended
• Housing provided by facility, typically 1-bedroom apartments, with move-in restrictions and no pets allowed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates not accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
• Only one submission to a Providence facility allowed at a time
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities as permanent, travel, or per-diem staff
