Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a busy 24-bed Emergency Department requiring 2+ years of ED experience and TNCC certification.
Details
- Acute care Emergency Department with 24 beds and 3 trauma bays
- High-volume unit seeing 80-90 patients per day with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Fast track and separate triage area available; travelers may occasionally be assigned to triage
- ER holds are intermixed within the unit and cared for by ER RNs
- Common diagnoses include trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac events
- Respiratory therapy manages ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow equipment
- No telemetry monitor techs on unit; RNs must be able to read ECG rhythms independently
- X-ray and CT located adjacent to the ED
- Phlebotomy performed by techs or RNs
- Uses Paragon EMR
- Self-scheduling available across Day, Night, 9-9, 11-11, 1-1, and 3-3 shift options
- 12-hour shifts, evenings and nights, including 3p-3a or 7p-7a rotations
- Weekend requirement every other weekend; holiday requirement every other holiday
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating required to units for which the nurse is qualified
Requirements
- Active TX or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC, and ENPC or PALS
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Must be proficient in reading ECG rhythms independently
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

- Work alongside ED physicians, mid-levels, charge nurses, house supervisors, nurse aides, paramedics, and patient sitters
- In-house security available on site
- Navy scrub color required per dress code
- Unit-specific orientation provided
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; PRN employment through outside staffing firms will be considered
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
