Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit requiring night shift availability and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• High risk/high volume Labor & Delivery unit with 4 ORs, 31 rooms and 31 beds
• Unit serves midwifery clients, private OBs, Adult Recovery Services, and community care clinics
• Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
• Patient ratio of 1:1-2
• Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring
• Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Required to float to Post Partum/Antepartum units and sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required, with 2-3 years preferred
• High risk Labor & Delivery experience required
• Must be able to function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide newborn care through transfer to post partum
• Must be able to circulate for deliveries and C-sections
• Experience with sterile vaginal exams, amnioinfusion, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management required
• Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate required
• Epic EMR experience required
• 2 references covering 1 year of comparable experience within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive Labor & Delivery care including circulating, newborn assessments, eye and Vitamin K injections, and newborn thigh injections
• Support high-risk and high-volume deliveries in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• First-time travelers accepted with required experience
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Former permanent staff must be separated from employment for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
• Pre-approved time off is considered on a case-by-case basis
• May be required to float between sister facilities within the region
