Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk, high-volume unit requiring high-risk L&D experience and WA or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:30
- High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 4 ORs, 31 rooms and 31 beds
- Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
- Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, Adult Recovery Services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
- Functions in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continues newborn care until transfer to post partum
- Circulating duties required including newborn care, eye and Vitamin K administration, and thigh injections
- Administers Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring
- Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
- Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Float required to Post Partum and Antepartum units and to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, 2-3 years preferred
- High-risk L&D experience required
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with patient ratios of 1:1-2
- Two professional references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility (permanent, travel, or per-diem), including location and dates
Additional Information
- Provides circulating duties for C-sections and assists with high-risk and vaginal deliveries
- Performs newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, cord care, and thermoregulation
- Supports postpartum care including hemorrhage management, couplet care, and lactation support
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Pre-approved time off considered on a case-by-case basis
- First-time travelers accepted with 2 years of experience
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility unless accepted at a lower rate for local candidates
- Former Providence permanent employees must have been separated for at least 3 months and reside outside a 50-mile radius to be eligible
- May be expected to float between sister facilities within the region
