Description
American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2+ years of experience and NIHSS certification in a Level II trauma center.
Details
- Acute care setting in a Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) with 35 beds
- Patient ratios of 1:4-5
- Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, and diabetes diagnoses
- Continuous EEG monitoring performed on the unit
- RNs required to titrate drips including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications
- Charge Nurse present on each shift
- Nurse aides/patient care techs available at 1:10 or 2:20 ratios
- 12-hour night shifts, 0630-1900 and 1830-0700
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required every third holiday
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab
- Uses Epic EMR
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Active RN license (State or Compact/NLC) for the submitting state required, pending licenses not accepted
- BSN not required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS, all active and current
- Must provide a copy of driver's license for submission
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Nursys license verification required
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care including drip titration and continuous EEG monitoring for a diverse cardiac, nephrology, stroke, and diabetes patient population
- Fast-paced unit requiring a positive attitude, strong communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability
- First week includes onboarding followed by 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation
- Orientation includes a pass/fail open-book exam on Friday requiring a 90% score to continue the assignment
- Artificial fingernails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove will result in contract termination
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified via driver's license
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
