Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring 2 years of cardiac experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Cardiac Telemetry unit within a Rapid Response department
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15), 36 hours per week
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Patient population includes Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis
  • Unit supports post-procedural care for CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO (Watchman), VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, amputations, and other cardiac/thoracic/vascular surgeries
  • Uses arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, fem-stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
  • Utilizes Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication systems
  • Floating required as needed
  • Weekend coverage required (4 shifts per 4 weeks)
  • No on-call requirements
  • Contracts of 13-26 weeks accepted
  • May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of cardiac nursing experience required
  • MS/Tele or Step-down experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial and central line management, and peripheral line care
  • Experience managing and titrating cardiac drips preferred
  • Skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
  • Radial artery line experience preferred
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

  • Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including post-cath, post-DCCV, and post-electrophysiology monitoring
  • 24-hour unit orientation provided
  • Scrub requirement: navy blue pants with white top
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 7 days of RTO auto-approved if not on a holiday; no RTO during first week of assignment
  • First-time travelers accepted only if they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
  • Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
  • Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
  • Travel pairs allowed if on different units with separate schedules and transportation
