Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Neuro RN for a night shift position requiring NIHSS certification and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Neuro unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Average daily census of 32 patients with a 1:6-7 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (1800-0630)
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
• Cerner EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• OCN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Prior Med/Surg work setting experience required
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience including telemetry remote monitoring and Rapid Response Team use
• GI case experience including colostomy care and feeding tube management
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills including port access, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Medication administration experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Neurological/psychiatric case experience including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Surgical drain experience required
• Respiratory case experience including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac experience required
• Continuous bladder irrigation experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Level II Trauma Center with 372 staffed beds
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Provide direct patient care to a medically complex neuro and med/surg population
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous PRN or permanent employees of the Memorial Hospital System must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 days
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Parking permit provided at no cost, arranged during orientation
