Description
American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Oncology RN for a night shift assignment requiring APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification and 2+ years of pediatric hematology/oncology experience.
Details
- Pediatric Oncology unit caring for all types of childhood cancers and sickle cell patients
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
- Patient ratio of 1:3, which may vary based on census and acuity
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within skillset to Peds, PICU stepdown, and Adolescent units
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Navy blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active NJ or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, PALS, and APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Card
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology experience required
- IV therapy skills including blood product administration, port care, central line care, peripheral line management, phlebotomy, and IV starts
- Chemotherapy administration and monitoring experience, including pediatric dosage calculations and post-chemo body fluid handling
- Experience with TPN/lipids and symptom management
- Skills in assisting with lumbar punctures and managing neuromuscular disease, seizure disorders, chest tubes, and oxygen delivery systems
- Experience managing indwelling urinary catheters and renal failure patients
- Proficiency in infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care/assessment
- Experience with fracture care and Pediatric Early Warning Score (PEWS)/Rapid Response Team protocols
- EPIC charting experience required
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive pediatric hematology/oncology nursing care in collaboration with a renowned cancer institute
- Work within an academic pediatric medical campus featuring a PICU, Level IV NICU, and 24/7 Pediatric Emergency Department
- Winter holiday coverage required (work or on-call) for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays among Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Previous RWJBH staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before being eligible for travel assignments
