Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring Epic experience and recent charge or precepting experience.

Details

• Med/Surg unit caring for all types of medical-surgical patients
• Patient ratios of 4-5:1 with a 15-bed unit
• Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts totaling 48 hrs weekly (36 hrs can be accommodated if preferred)
• Remote tele tech monitoring for telemetry patients
• Uses Epic EMR
• Administers heparin drips
• Weekend rotation required every other or every third weekend depending on staffing/census
• No on-call requirements
• Required to float to all campuses including Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran Hospital, and Methodist West Hospital within contracted skillset/unit

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 24 months of recent Med/Surg or Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Must have completed at least one travel contract within the previous 18 months
• Proficiency caring for all patient types within a medical-surgical population
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience administering heparin required
• Telemetry/cardiac background highly preferred
• Recent charge nurse or preceptor experience required
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, or executive within the past 24 months preferred
• Valid driver's license required for consideration

• Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of 3 major upcoming holidays unless the unit is closed
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered
• Prior UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN) may be restricted from working travel assignments at this facility or market depending on separation history
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
