Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring 24 months of Med/Surg experience and pulmonary patient care experience.
Details
- Med/Surg unit caring for Pulmonary/Med Surg patient population in a 23-bed unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6
- May care for COVID+ patients and utilizes Heparin drips
- Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts, 48 hrs/week (36 hrs/week available upon request)
- Weekend requirement of every other or every third weekend depending on staffing/census
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required across Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
- Minimum 24 months of current Med/Surg experience required
- Pulmonary patient care experience required
- Level III trauma experience required
- Experience with Pulmonary/Ventilated patients on bi-pap and trach care highly preferred
- Level I trauma experience highly preferred; Level II trauma experience preferred
- Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg unit within a Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital
- Holiday rotation required; must work 1-2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless unit is closed
- First-time travelers will be considered if the 24-month Med/Surg experience requirement is met
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments at other UPH markets within 12 months of separation; this restriction does not apply to prior UPH travel assignments
- Limited time-off requests permitted during the Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year holiday periods
