Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring a KS or compact RN license and drip titration skills.
Details
- Acute care Med/Surg unit with 21 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, with nurse aide support at 1:8
- Common diagnoses include CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, GI bleeding, and acute renal failure
- Uses Epic EMR
- RNs required to titrate drips including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
- Remote telemonitoring in place for cardiac monitoring
- RT equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and ventilators
- Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts
- Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
- Minimum of six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required
- Floating required as determined by nurse manager and department needs, including potential float within Zone 4 for extreme need
- On-call/standby requirements determined by nurse manager
- Charge nurse role present and may take a patient assignment
Requirements
- Active KS state or compact RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Med/Surg experience required
- BSN not required
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to meet state residency requirements
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to a diverse Med/Surg population including cardiac, respiratory, and gastrointestinal cases
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Orientation date and unit-specific details assigned during orientation week; clinicians must be in-state for orientation week even if first-day modules are remote
- First-time travelers may be considered
- Travelers hired into this zone are expected to float within the assigned float zone for the duration of the assignment
