Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring a CT or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ICU experience.

Details

  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit within a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating to step-down unit required as needed
  • Epic EMR used, experience required
  • Facility has 1,567 staffed beds

Requirements

  • Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of recent SICU experience required (1.5 years considered with Level I trauma or travel experience)
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skilled in airway management, IV drip titration, and care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Proficient in ventilator management, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drip titration, and interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias
  • 1 professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to surgical ICU patients, including those with complex respiratory, cardiac, renal, and neurological conditions
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition as needed
  • Participate in infection prevention practices including isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Flu vaccination required with no declinations accepted; COVID vaccine exemptions limited to religious or medical reasons
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Former perm staff must have a 2-year separation before being considered as a traveler
  • RTO requests exceeding 7 days require additional approval
  • Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
