Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Nursery position requiring NICU and Mother/Baby couplet care experience along with CA RN licensure.
Details
- Nursery unit within a community hospital setting
- Provides newborn and mother/baby couplet care
- Patient ratio of 1:3 in both Mother/Baby and Nursery
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
- Weekend rotation required, every other weekend (approximately 7 weekend shifts over a 13-week assignment)
- Occasional on-call requirement
- Floating required to Mother/Baby and Postpartum units
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with NICU, Special Care Nursery/Level II, and Postpartum settings preferred
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- STABLE certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Prior Level II or III NICU experience preferred
- Experience attending deliveries and performing neonatal resuscitation required
- Mother/Baby couplet care experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, medication administration, and newborn/postpartum care procedures
- 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required
- Current certifications with valid expiration dates required
Additional Information
- Provide age-appropriate, developmentally focused patient care across pediatric to geriatric populations
- Perform newborn care duties including cord care, car seat education, circumcision site care, and discharge teaching
- Provide postpartum care including fundus/lochia checks, couplet care, and care for cesarean, vaginal delivery, and hemorrhage patients
- Administer medications such as antihypertensives, antiseizure drugs, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, and Pitocin
- Support pain management including epidural and PCA care
- Holiday coverage required for one of the following: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only one holiday request approved
- Local candidates accepted at local rate
- 50-mile radius rule applies for travel rate eligibility
- Returning staff/travelers must have a one-year separation period before reapplying
- First-time travelers may be considered, with a minimum of 4 orientation shifts preferred for those new to Epic
