Description
American Traveler is hiring a Nursery RN for a night-shift position requiring NICU or Mother/Baby couplet care experience and a CA RN license.
Details
- Work in the Nursery unit, including Level I and Level II/Special Care Nursery settings, within a community hospital
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00)
- Occasional on-call requirements
- Float to Mother/Baby and Postpartum units as needed
- Every other weekend required (approximately 7 weekend shifts per 13-week contract)
- Patient ratio of 1:3 in both Nursery and Mother/Baby
- Uses Epic EMR
- Provides newborn and postpartum care including couplet care, phototherapy, cord care, discharge teaching, and assessment of newborns
Requirements
- Active CA RN license
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required; STABLE certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with Level II or III NICU, attending deliveries, neonatal resuscitation, and Mother/Baby couplet care preferred
- Skills required include IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, medication administration (including antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, magnesium sulfate, and pitocin), and newborn assessment
- Experience with postpartum care including vaginal delivery, cesarean section, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage management
- Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and vaccine administration
- Experience with pain management including post-epidural management and IV PCA use
Additional Information
- Provide age-appropriate care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with attention to developmental and psychosocial needs
- Accesses only the minimum necessary patient information required for care
- Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day, with only one holiday request approved per contract
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
- Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius
- Returning staff must have a separation period of at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers with Epic experience may be considered and may test out of certain orientation requirements, with a minimum of 4 shifts provided for unit orientation
