Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Step-down RN with telemetry expertise and Epic charting proficiency for a night shift position requiring a VA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Step-down unit of a hospital setting
  • Cares for telemetry and PCU/DOU/IMC patients, including cardiac, renal, and neurological cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:3
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
  • Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
  • Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Minimum 1 year of Step-down or telemetry nursing experience
  • Epic charting experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), PCA, and insulin protocols preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, and blood product administration
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy, and oxygen therapy
  • Two professional references required
  • Nursys license verification required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for cardiac telemetry, renal, and neurological step-down patients
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
  • Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
  • Disclose any vacation time between sign date and start date to arrange an appropriate start date
  • Candidates who previously worked for the facility as permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval
  • External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days and are ineligible to return once reached
  • First-time travelers may be considered
