Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Stepdown Cardiac PCU position requiring 2+ years of telemetry experience, Epic proficiency, and prior travel assignment experience.
Details
- Stepdown Cardiac PCU unit caring for MI, rule-out MI, primary arrhythmia, pre/post open-heart, vascular surgery, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and pre/post cath lab patients
- Also cares for stroke patients with cardiac involvement and specialized structural heart patients (VAD, TAVR)
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
- Patient ratio is 1:4, with up to 1:5 at midnight
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to like units, including sister facilities within the system
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active WA or Compact RN license required, must be in hand at submission
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required; VAD and TAVR experience preferred
- Surgical telemetry and vascular (groin/radial) band management experience required
- Strong IV skills required, including starting and maintaining IVs, central line care, and port access/management
- Experience with chest tubes, sternal precautions, and post open-heart care required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include breathing treatments, chest tube setup/care, CPAP/BiPAP management, trach care, and sternal precautions
- Administer blood and blood products, perform cardioversion/defibrillation, and manage epicardial pacers
- Provide care for LVAD patients and open-heart patients 24-28 hours post-op
- Interpret and manage telemetry dysrhythmias both on-unit and via remote monitoring
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer requests may not be granted
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Former permanent staff at this facility may return as travelers after a 3-month separation, provided they do not reside within 50 miles of the facility
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including dates and locations
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
