Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac PCU RN for a night shift Progressive Care Unit role requiring 2+ years of surgical telemetry experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
- Patient population includes myocardial infarction, rule out MI, primary arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
- Specialized structural heart support including VAD and TAVR patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with up to 1:5 at midnight
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to like units; travelers must be flexible to floating between sister facilities
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active WA state or compact RN license required (must be in hand at submission)
- Minimum 2 years of surgical telemetry experience required
- Open heart surgery and vascular (groin/radial band management) experience required
- IV skills and NIH Stroke Scale experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Skills required: breathing treatments, chest tube set-up/care, CPAP/BiPAP, trach care, sternal precautions, blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, epicardial pacer management, LVAD and open heart 24-28 hours post-op care, telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Epic charting system experience required
Additional Information
- Provide specialized cardiac telemetry nursing care including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-cardiac surgery care, and structural heart support
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Must be flexible to float between sister facilities as needed
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be granted
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Former permanent staff at other (non-Swedish) Providence facilities may be eligible for a travel contract after a 3-month separation period
- Returning staff must wait at least 3 months and reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- Candidates residing within 50 miles may be accepted at a lower bill rate
- Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years are required
