Description
American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring CA RN licensure and at least 1 year of PACU experience.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting within the PACU unit
- Covers Pre/Post and PACU areas with staggered start times between 0600 and 0830
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, with a typical shift of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Nurses must remain flexible and stay until the day's cases are completed, as outpatient surgery has no shift relief
- May be required to float between sister facilities
- No guaranteed shift relief for outpatient surgery days
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required; pending license accepted
- Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skills required include respiratory and end-tidal CO2 monitoring, airway assessment, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, central line care, and PICC line care preferred
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide perianesthesia nursing care across Pre/Post and PACU phases for a variety of surgical cases including ENT, ortho, gyn, plastics, urology, vascular, and ophthalmology procedures
- Support patients under various anesthesia types including general, local, MAC, conscious sedation, and nerve blocks
- Perform pre/post-operative care duties such as discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, pre-op assessments and education, and EKG/ECG acquisition
- Manage cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and pain assessment protocols
- Follow isolation precautions/PPE and malignant hyperthermia protocols as needed
- Scrub color is scrubs or business casual
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO limited to no more than 7 days and must be requested upfront during submission
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel pay rate, though local candidates are accepted at a lower bill rate
- Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
- Can only be submitted to one Providence facility at a time
