Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring 2+ years of critical care experience and NC/compact RN licensure.
Details
- 26-bed Neuro and Surgical ICU (NSICU) within a comprehensive stroke center
- Patient ratios of 2:1, occasionally 3:1
- Cares for neuroscience intensive care patients including stroke, ICP, and seizure management cases
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to other ICUs and intermediate units
- No block scheduling; staffing based on per unit needs
- Uses Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication systems
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Experience with ICP monitoring, ventilator management, and telemetry required
- Experience with stroke management, seizure management, titrating drips, and invasive equipment preferred
- Experience with EVD management, Ventilator management, Zoll temperature management/Arctic Sun, and PCAs
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending acceptable at submission)
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to neurological and surgical ICU patients
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Local candidates accepted at a different rate within 50 miles of the facility
- Previous PERM/PRN/EP employees of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- RTO requests of 7 days or less may be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week due to orientation
- Weekly orientation provided, totaling approximately 24 hours
- Scrubs not provided; navy blue, white, or a combination of both required
- Travel pairs allowed with independent transportation and differing schedules
- Candidates interested in longer contracts beyond the 13-week minimum may indicate preference
