Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring 2+ years RRT or 3-5 years CRT experience, caring for adult, pediatric, and NICU patients.
Details
- Acute care inpatient setting covering adult floors, pediatric floors, and NICU
- RTs on pediatric floors will also cover adults; RTs on adult floors will not cover pediatrics
- 36-42 treatments per 12-hour shift or 12-14 every 4 hours
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Equipment includes Draeger vents for adults, Servo U vents for pediatrics, V60 BiPAPs, Vapotherm high flow, Optiflow for NICU/PICU, Philips Cough Assist, ResMed home CPAP, HillRom Vest machines, and Hill-Rom Metaneb
- NICU coverage requires knowledge of NAVA (neurally adjusted ventilatory assist) on Servo vents
- Day shift, 7a-7p, 12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Required to work during holidays if scheduled
- First to float among staff, including potential floating to Meridian Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center
- No call or standby call requirement
- Hospitalist and intensivist in house 24/7
- Lead respiratory therapist on each shift covers the ED, handles daily staffing, and acts as a resource
- Typically 15-20 RTs on days and 10-12 on nights; traveler will not be the only RT in-house
Requirements
- License required if applicable
- BLS and ACLS required for adult patients
- BLS and PALS required for pediatric patients
- BLS and NRP required for NICU coverage
- RRT preferred with 2-3 years of experience, or CRT accepted with 3-5 years of experience
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Will manage RT equipment, treatments, transport, and ABGs
- Will assist with intubation only, not perform independently
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Approximately 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation, including adult floor care, pediatric floor, NICU, and additional ICU orientation if applicable
- Scrub color is flexible as long as attire is clean and professional
- Scheduler creates the schedule and travelers are filled in based on need; schedule blocks are not guaranteed
- Overtime may be available
- Permanent employees must be away for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
- Does not accept local candidates
- Facility has a 50-mile radius rule for eligibility
