Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position in a Level 1 Trauma and Burn hospital.
Details
- 500+ bed hospital with Level 1 Pediatric and Adult Trauma and Burn designation
- Respiratory Care unit supporting adult medical, trauma/neuro, burn, and cardiovascular critical care units as well as the Emergency Department
- Night shift hours from 19:00-07:30
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- High School diploma with 2 years cumulative experience OR Associate's/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience
- BLS certification required (AHA or American Red Cross)
- Respiratory Care Practitioner credential required (Indiana Respiratory Care Committee)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required from the NBRC
- ACLS preferred (AHA or American Red Cross)
- NRP certification preferred (American Academy of Pediatrics)
- PALS preferred (AHA or American Red Cross)
- License required if applicable
- Current license with primary source verification required within 30 days prior to assignment start
Additional Information
- Evaluate and provide care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies
- Assess patients to determine appropriate treatment type and frequency, developing individualized care plans
- Implement and monitor patient care plans and equipment, performing advanced respiratory care modalities
- Evaluate respiratory practice, medication administration, and treatment effectiveness based on patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families about health conditions and available community support programs
- Respond to emergency resuscitation team codes
- Work independently with critical thinking and decisive judgment in a fast-paced, stressful environment
- Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
- Accepts local candidates, though a radius rule may apply affecting pay rate
- Candidates should begin discussing extension with their manager at least 45 days prior to assignment end date
