Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Stepdown unit position requiring MI RN licensure and 2 years of PCU/Stepdown experience.
Details
- Work in a Stepdown unit caring for general medicine and oncology stepdown patients
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Patient ratio of 1:4-6, with support staff available if ratios flex higher
- Administer chemotherapy via IV and perform IV starts
- Uses Welch Allyn vital sign towers, Sigma IV pumps, and Epic for documentation
- Required to work every other weekend, assigned by manager/scheduler
- Floating required to other med surg areas, including AU and ER, to care for med surg patients
- No on-call responsibilities
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
- ONCC or ONS certification preferred
- ACLS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown nursing experience required
- Oncology/chemotherapy experience preferred but not required
- Experience with Epic charting system preferred
- Skilled in administration and monitoring of chemotherapy
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Skilled in IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
- Skilled in IV therapy and phlebotomy
- Supervisor-level references required for consideration
- Proof of flu vaccination required for consideration
Additional Information
- Care for gen med/oncology stepdown patients with chemo admits decreasing assignment ratios
- Charge RN typically not included in patient assignment
- Travelers are first to float when floating is required
- Self-scheduling available for non-weekend shifts, with weekends assigned by manager
- Must be available for the first two weeks of the assignment
- RTO limited to no more than 10 days, with requests after offer discussed with onsite manager
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
- Previous Bronson internal travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
- First-time travelers are not considered for this position
