Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a teaching hospital position requiring NC or compact licensure and prior L&D experience.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit within a teaching hospital setting with over 300 births per month
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
- Open availability required with no blocked scheduling
- Every other weekend required
- Floats between High Risk Antepartum and L&D units
- Facility uses Epic for charting
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
- AWHONN Beginner/Intermediate and FHM certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Proficiency with EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring)
- Experience with high-risk OB conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor preferred
- Experience with VBAC management and trial of labor preferred
- Must pass an onsite EKG/Telemetry exam
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and high-risk antepartum nursing care
- Support vaginal and C-section deliveries, including circulating duties
- Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and newborn assessments
- Assist with antepartum procedures such as NSTs, OCTs, and sterile vaginal exams
- Provide postpartum care including fundal checks, lactation support, and wound care
- Administer medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Royal blue scrubs provided
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
- Flu vaccination required with no exemptions or declinations accepted
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates with prior permanent employment at the health system must not have worked there within the past 6 months
- Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
