Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring 18 months of PCU experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in a combined MedSurg/PCU unit with 10 MedSurg beds and 10 Progressive beds
- Patient population includes heart failure, chest pain, r/o stroke, sepsis, renal failure, respiratory failure, DKA, and interventional patients with titratable drips
- RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6 for MedSurg and 1:3-4 for PCU
- 12hr night shift (7p-7a), 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to all facilities within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH-peds) as needed within scope of practice
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 18 months of PCU experience required
- General PCU skillset required including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management), and PCA pumps
- Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, Heparin, Insulin, blood products, and IVF
- Epic EMR experience required
- One professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
- Last 4 of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Facility has 207 licensed beds, no trauma designation, is not a teaching hospital, and is designated as a Chest Pain and Stroke Center
- Support staff includes CNAs, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy for peripheral draws, IV/VAT team, resource nurse as staffing allows, and 24/7 RT and hospitalist coverage
- Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays; time must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met
- Navy scrub color required
- Free parking available
- Unit culture emphasizes teamwork
- Traveler's permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the home unit; local candidates not accepted
- First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
- Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
