Description
American Traveler is hiring a Level II NICU RN requiring NRP, STABLE, and compact or MD RN licensure for a 13-week assignment.
Details
- Level II NICU/Special Care Nursery setting
- 3x12 shifts available in Day (0700-1900) or Night (1900-0700)
- Patient population includes neonates ranging from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
- Required to float to Postpartum and Labor & Delivery for neonatal care
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Uses ventilation systems for High-Flow O2, CPAP, and Mechanical Ventilation
- Uses BD Alaris Smart Pumps and point-of-care blood glucose measurement equipment
Requirements
- Active compact or MD RN license required
- Current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU II experience required
- CPAP experience required
- Cerner charting experience required
- Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
- Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
- Proficiency required in respiratory support via High Flow O2, CPAP, Bubble CPAP, and Mechanical Ventilation
- Proficiency required in central line management, peripheral IV insertion, and lab draws
- Proficiency required in administration of IV antibiotics
- Proficiency required in stabilization of newborns less than 32 weeks for transport to a Level III facility
- Proficiency required in thermoregulation and passive cooling for pre-term and full-term infants
- Flu vaccination required
Additional Information
- Monitor and maintain stability of cardiopulmonary, neurologic, metabolic, and thermal functions independently or with physician collaboration
- Assist with specialized procedures such as lumbar puncture and endotracheal resuscitation of newborns 32 weeks or greater
- Initiate, modify, or stop treatment according to established protocols or orders
- Requires strong knowledge of apnea and bradycardia related to pre-term infants
- Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a reduced pay rate
- No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- Candidates must have a record of multiple successfully completed travel assignments with no cancellations
