Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 3 years of experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg Tele unit (24 beds) within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 6:1 with PCT support at 12:1
• Common diagnoses include CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD, and med/surg tele conditions
• Unit cares for CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow patients
• Uses Paragon EMR charting system
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend required
• Required to float to all Med/Surg units, and possibly to PCU to care for tele holds prior to transfer
• Scheduling is set by the manager; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• Unit has transitioned to a virtual integrated care (VIC) nursing model

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• Must be able to read telemetry strips
• Strong communication and time management skills required
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

• Care team includes tele monitor techs, PCTs, Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage required
• Unit and department-specific orientation provided for Kurth Tower med/surg tele units
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
