Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Med-Surg unit in a Level 1 Trauma Center, requiring 2+ years of experience and WV or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Acute care Stepdown/Med-Surg unit (8NE) within a Level 1 Trauma Center
- 24 private rooms with a 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio and support from clinical associates
- Patient population includes trauma, brain and spinal cord injuries, traumatic fractures, respiratory compromise, reconstructive surgery, diabetic management, and general surgical cases
- All 24 beds are telemetry monitored with central monitor techs; RNs require basic EKG interpretation skills
- Utilizes BiPap, CPAP, and chronic/non-weaning vents
- RNs responsible for titrating drips such as cardizem, labetalol, and amiodarone (no sedative drips)
- 11 rooms equipped with in-ceiling lifts for patient mobilization
- Day shift schedule, 7am-7pm, every other weekend
- Floating required on a rotational basis with unit staff
- No call or standby requirements
- Uses EPIC EMR system
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Strong assessment skills and adaptability to a fast-paced environment required
- Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care within a Level 1 Trauma Center setting
- Unit charge nurse and house supervisors available 24/7 for support
- Unit-specific orientation provided with a clinical preceptor
- Nurse aide support available, typically 3 aides per 24 patients
- Holiday coverage required on a rotational basis
- Royal blue scrub color required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Previous travelers at this facility for a full year must wait 2 years before returning
- Previous permanent staff must wait 2 years before returning as travelers
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
