Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatrics position requiring 2 years of experience and chemotherapy administration skills.
Details
- Pediatric unit caring for ages 0-17 with medical surgical and hematology/oncology diagnoses
- Target patient ratio of 1:5-6
- 12-hour day shifts from 06:45 to 19:15, 3x12 schedule
- 36 hours per week can be offered
- 13-week minimum assignment length
- Every other weekend required
- No call requirements
- Floating required to PICU and NICU
- Self-scheduling utilized
- Uses PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR systems
- Unit orientation is 24 hours with mandatory hospital orientation classes during week one
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact), pending license/certs OK for consideration
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- PALS certification required, chemotherapy certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Experience administering chemotherapy required
- Preferred skills include IV starts, lab draws, central/peripheral line care, and port management
- Epic charting experience preferred
- First-time travelers accepted if they meet the 2-year experience requirement
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care to pediatric medical surgical and hematology/oncology patients
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy treatments
- Scrubs not provided; fun kid-themed tops with navy pants required
- Must complete required pre-start and annual online training modules (8-10 hours for acute care roles)
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved if not on a holiday; no RTO allowed during first week of assignment; additional RTO after booking is not permitted
- Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
- Former employees of the health system must wait 12 months before reapplying as a traveler and disclose prior employment details
- Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
