Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Inpatient Rehab RN for night shifts, requiring 2 years of RN experience and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

  • 24-bed inpatient rehab unit treating cerebrovascular disease, traumatic brain injury, amputations, spinal cord injuries, deconditioning, and neurological diseases
  • Patient diagnoses include SCI, TBI, stroke, amputation, neuromuscular disease, and severe deconditioning related to cardiac or respiratory events
  • Collaborative care team model including physiatrist, NP, RN, therapists, and social worker
  • Night shift schedule (7p-7a), offered as 3x12hr or 4x12hr options with weekday and every other weekend rotations
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
  • Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • Block schedule requests may be accommodated, to be discussed in interview

Requirements

  • Active WV or compact RN license required (pending license accepted for submission, must be active by start date)
  • BLS certification required (AHA)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of in-specialty (inpatient rehab) experience required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required
  • Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care within a collaborative rehab care team including physiatrists, NPs, therapists, and social workers
  • Average patient length of stay is approximately 2 weeks, with therapy sessions provided 3 hours daily, Monday through Friday
  • Scrub color requirement: royal blue/white or a combination of the two
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption is documented; COVID vaccine not required
  • Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital affiliated with the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)
  • Orientation held every other Thursday
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No RTO restrictions, though requests must be included at time of application and discussed during interview
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility, with 75-99 miles considered case-by-case for facility approval
  • Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
  • Current employees of the broader health system (including CAMC, Mon Health, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for this travel contract
