Description
American Traveler is hiring a CVICU RN for a 13-week rotating day/night contract requiring 2+ years CVICU experience and an active MD or Compact RN license.
Details
- CVICU setting caring for adult and geriatric patients
- 15-bed unit with average daily census of 10
- Patient ratios of 1:1 up to 1:3 for stable, lower acuity patients
- Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, arrhythmias, MI, pulmonary hypertension, and advanced therapy workups such as LVAD and heart transplant
- Supports mechanical support devices including Impella, IABP, VAD, and CRRT
- Performs bedside procedures including central/A-line insertion, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA cath insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
- Uses Epic EMR
- Rotating day/night shifts, 3x12 hours (0700-1930 / 1900-0730)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within specialty to lower acuity units as needed
- On-call requirements may apply, pending confirmation
Requirements
- Active RN license (MD state or Compact)
- BLS and ACLS certification (AHA only)
- CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version accepted)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- CCRN certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, and TPN/Lipids
- Experience managing ventilated and post-cardiac surgery patients
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Experience with CRRT, AKI, and renal replacement therapies
- Experience with ABG interpretation and respiratory failure management
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular patients including those on mechanical circulatory support
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams managing advanced cardiac therapies such as TAVR, CABG, and valve repair/replacement
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Compliance documents due 5 days prior to start
- Travelers must be comfortable floating within scope with no restrictions
- First-time travelers with strong CVICU experience will be considered
- Returning staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- Returning travelers must wait at least 6 months after completing an assignment before returning to the same facility
- Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility unless otherwise specified
