Description
American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a float pool position within a multi-hospital health system, requiring CA RN licensure and prior travel experience.
Details
- Work in a system-wide float pool covering telemetry units across 5 hospitals
- Care for patients with cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and post-surgical conditions requiring telemetry monitoring
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
- Required to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week cycle and at least one holiday weekend
- Required to float to like units or lower acuity units at or below skillset, excluding the ED, across the health system
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temporary or Permanent, no EMSA)
- Current AHA certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of concurrent experience in telemetry specialty, with at least 1.5 years continuous experience without breaks
- Travel experience required, including 1 year total travel experience and 6+ months of continuous travel experience leading up to consideration
- Epic or combined Epic/Cerner experience within the last 6 months required
- Community hospital experience required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- One supervisory-level professional reference required
- Valid copies of all required certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Experience with conditions such as CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and traumatic brain injury preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, blood product administration, and wound care
- Familiarity with BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
- Knowledge of heparin protocols and management of cardiac/vasoactive drips (no titration)
- Maximum 7 days RTO permitted, with no additional RTO requests after consideration
- Must not be a local candidate within 100 miles of San Diego, and those on assignment locally for 9+ months are ineligible
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Former permanent staff or travelers may reapply after a 1-year separation period
- Floating may extend to other campuses or locations depending on organizational needs
