Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a critical care role requiring RRT certification and critical care experience in a highly progressive acute respiratory care hospital setting.
Details
- Hospital with 260-280 beds and a daily census of 250-260 patients
- Highly progressive/acute respiratory care unit covering adult, pediatric, and neonatal critical care, as well as general inpatient respiratory care
- May be required to care for NICU patients if the assignment calls for it
- Uses EPIC EMR (required) and Omnicell for medication dispensing
- Equipment includes Draeger V500 and Savina 300 ventilators, 3100A/3100B High Frequency Oscillators, Bunnell High Frequency Jet, Hamilton C1, ResMed APAP/CPAP/Bi-level, Airvo2 High Flow devices, Cough Assist, Incourage vest, ABL90 Blood Gas machines, IPV, and Vero iNO device
- 6/12 hour variable shifts, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- Floating required throughout the hospital and ED, but not to other facilities unless specified in contract
- On-call requirements vary by facility and may include early morning hours several days per week at certain locations
Requirements
- RRT required; CRT may be considered based on experience
- South Dakota RCP license required prior to start (license required if applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- NRP certification required if caring for NICU patients
- AA Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience required for travelers
- Critical care and general respiratory care experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
Additional Information
- Support on the unit includes 24/7 Charge RT/Respiratory Clinical Specialist coverage, as well as Supervisors, Manager, and Director oversight
- Orientation provided at the facility and within the Respiratory Care Department
- Expected to work holidays that fall within contract dates
- Time off requests of up to 7 days may be accommodated if the department allows, though taking a full week off requires extending the contract
- No time off approved during the first three weeks of August due to the Sturgis Bike Rally
- Scrub color required is pewter
- Free parking available
- First-time travelers may be considered upon manager review with strong experience
- Facility has a 100-mile radius rule; local candidates within this radius are not accepted
- Facility is known for being traveler-friendly and frequently renews travel contracts
