Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Endoscopy unit requiring Level 1 or 2 trauma background and a SD or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a hospital Endoscopy department with 4 procedure rooms, 20 Pre-Op bays, and 14 PACU bays
- Patient population includes advanced Endoscopy procedures such as EUS, EBUS, and ERCP, plus standard EGD and colonoscopy cases
- Provide Pre and Post Recovery care (Phase I and Phase II) with some ICU-level needs
- Patient ratios are 1:1 in Endoscopy, 1:2 in Pre-Op, 1:1 or 1:2 in PACU Phase I based on acuity, and 1:2-3 in PACU Phase II
- Anesthesia provides sedation for 100% of cases
- 8-hour variable shifts rotating through 0630-1500, 0730-1600, 0830-1700, and 0900-1800
- Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
- On-call required one overnight per week (7p-7a) and every 3rd weekend, with a 15-minute response time
- Floating as needed to Pre-Op, PACU, or the floor in a helping-hands capacity, but not to the Main OR as primary RN
- Uses Epic EMR, ION robot for robotic-assisted bronchoscopy, Omnicell, and Alaris equipment
Requirements
- Active RN license (South Dakota or Compact) currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a Level 1 or 2 trauma setting
- Endoscopy experience required, including advanced procedures such as EUS, EBUS, and ERCP
- Completion of an approved nursing education program
Additional Information
- Deliver direct nursing care across Endoscopy, Pre-Op, and PACU settings, supporting advanced GI procedures
- Team includes 6 RNs/Endo Techs on the unit with full anesthesia support for sedation
- 1-week facility and unit orientation provided
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of 4 major holidays
- Time off requests require manager approval and staff may volunteer for low census without pay
- Scrubs are provided by the facility and free parking is available
- First-time travelers are not accepted without email approval
- Permanent staff must wait a full year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers must live more than 100 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Facility is known for being traveler-friendly and welcomes contract renewals
