Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a free-standing Emergency Department requiring 2 years of ED experience and NC/compact licensure.
Details
- Free-standing 16-bed Emergency Department with no trauma designation, licensed under a main hospital campus
- Facility offers 24/7 on-site X-ray, CT, and ultrasound services, plus limited weekday STAT outpatient imaging
- Average of 68 ED visits per day with approximately 10% admit rate
- Patient population includes all ages with common ED diagnoses and behavioral health cases
- RN to patient ratio typically 1:4
- 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Support staff includes charge RN, in-house paramedic (1p-1a), 24/7 respiratory therapist, and imaging staff
- EPIC EMR used
- Equipment includes Alaris pumps, Omnicell, and Panda Warmer
- Floating required to other facilities within the region as needed, within scope of practice
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required; NRP preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- General ED skillset required including cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Work as part of a cross-trained care team including imaging and respiratory therapy staff
- Orientation includes new employee orientation plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holiday weeks; additional time must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Free parking provided
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the position
- Previous employees must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year after working a permanent position before being eligible to return
- Traveler experience preferred but first-time travelers will be considered
