Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg/Telemetry RN for a night shift position in Des Moines, IA, requiring recent charge or precepting experience and prior travel contract history.

Details

• Med/Surg unit caring for all types of medical-surgical patients
• Patient ratios of 4-5:1 on a 15-bed unit
• Remote telemetry tech monitoring for cardiac patients
• Experience with Heparin drips required
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts totaling 48 hrs/week (36 hrs can be accommodated if preferred)
• Works Fri, Sat, Sun, and Mon with one weeknight shift included in the rotation
• Weekend rotation required every other or every third weekend depending on census
• No on-call requirements
• Required to float across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of recent Med Surg or Med Surg/Tele experience required
• Must have completed at least one travel contract within the previous 18 months (no first-time travelers)
• Recent charge or preceptor experience required
• Proficiency caring for all med-surg patient types required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with Heparin drips required
• Telemetry or cardiac background highly preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months preferred

• Provide direct patient care across a variety of med-surg cases on a growing unit

• Holiday rotation required, with contractors expected to work 1-2 of 3 major holidays unless the unit is closed
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
• Candidates previously employed by UnityPoint Health (FTE or PRN) are ineligible to work travel assignments at any UPH market facility within the past 12 months unless their prior employment was as a travel contractor
• No first-time travelers accepted; at least one prior travel contract within the last 18 months is required
