Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment at an acute care hospital, requiring CA RN licensure and at least 2 years of L&D experience.
Details
- Labor & Delivery unit with 4 antepartum rooms, 9 labor/high-risk rooms, and 3 triage rooms
- Facility performs 200-300 births per month
- Cares for high-risk antepartum, labor, and postpartum patients
- Performs fetal heart monitoring, high-risk pregnancy monitoring, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating to postpartum required when needed, including couplet care (newborn and maternal)
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active CA RN license (compact license must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, FHM, and AWHONN Advanced (or NCC EFM accepted in lieu of AWHONN)
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Skilled in labor and delivery management, assisting with vaginal delivery, and circulating for C-section
- Scrubbing for C-section preferred
- Sterile vaginal exam skills required
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in a high-risk antepartum and labor and delivery setting within a beachside acute care hospital
- Navy blue scrubs required for RNs; scrubs provided for L&D/OR/Cath Lab roles
- May be required to float between sister facilities within the region
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of application, as post-submission requests may not be granted
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the facility to be eligible for the local rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
