Description
American Traveler is hiring an ER RN for a Level II Trauma Center combined adult/pediatric emergency department requiring CA RN license and 2+ years of ER experience.
Details
- General Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric patients
- Level II Trauma Center, STEMI Certified Facility, and Stroke Certified Facility
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-7:30
- Every other weekend required, or more depending on unit needs (Sunday not considered part of the weekend)
- Floating required based on facility needs
- Meditech charting system experience preferred but not required
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, MAB (or CPI), and NIHSS required; TNCC preferred
- PALS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
- Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
- Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with 12 lead EKG acquisition
- Proficient in arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and IV starts
- Experience with continuous IV paralytics, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration
- Neuro-trauma skills including CVA management, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain/spinal cord injury care
- Experience managing ortho-trauma and applying splints
- Skilled in care of patients with abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia, infections, respiratory infections, seizures, sickle cell crisis, skin disorders, and UTIs
- Experience identifying and reporting abuse or neglect
- Psychiatric/behavioral health skills including management of acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior, psychiatric holds, and suicidal patients
- Respiratory skills including chest tube insertion/management, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, and ventilator management
- Experience with shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
- Proficient in isolation precautions/PPE and triage
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care across a broad range of medical, psychiatric, trauma, and pediatric cases
- Must submit requested time off at the time of initial consideration
- Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least 365 days before returning as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted for this assignment
