Description
American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist for an acute inpatient adult unit, requiring 1+ year of acute care experience and BLS certification.
Details
- Acute inpatient adult unit treating a general acute care population
- Caseload of 8-10 patients per day with 5-7 therapists on shift
- Covers all acute care adult population except ICU
- Four 10-hour day shifts per week from 7:30am to 6:00pm on an 8-week schedule
- Weekend coverage required approximately 40% of weekend days, typically every other full weekend
- EPIC EMR used
Requirements
- Current state OT license required if applicable
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of acute care experience as a licensed therapist required (acute rehab experience alone is not sufficient)
- Must be able to evaluate and treat adult acute care patients, provide discharge recommendations, and communicate safe mobility plans
Additional Information
- Common diagnoses include neurologic conditions (CVA, MS, Parkinson's, Guillain Barre), general medical, orthopedic (total joints and fractures), cardiac (pacers), and oncology cases
- Department includes an OT Manager/Supervisor on each shift and 2 Rehab Aides (no COTAs)
- At least 2 days of unit-specific onboarding with an experienced staff OT preceptor
- First week schedule adjusted to Monday-Friday 8-hour shifts to accommodate onboarding
- Scrub color is flexible; business casual also accepted
- Travelers rarely work holidays unless there is a specific need
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Permanent employees must be separated for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
