Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Med/Surg unit caring for general medical-surgical patients (cardiac telemetry patients no longer accepted)
- Target patient ratio of 1:6, up to 1:7 during high census periods
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required as needed
- Self-scheduling system used on the unit
- Utilizes Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication systems
- 36-hour work weeks may be offered
- 13-week assignment length or longer accepted
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required (pending license accepted for consideration)
- Minimum 2 years of recent relevant RN experience required
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- ACLS certification preferred
- Required Epic EMR experience
- IV start and telemetry skills required
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred
- Experience with central line blood draws, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care preferred
- Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE use
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for med-surg patients including IV therapy, medication administration, and monitoring for dysrhythmias
- Unit orientation is approximately 24 hours with weekly orientation schedule
- Scrubs not provided; navy and/or white color scheme required
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- RTO of 7 days or less may be auto-approved if it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travel pairs are allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm, PRN, or EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details for facility approval
- Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status, not both
