Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown Cardiac position requiring 2 years of recent PCU experience and a NH or compact RN license.
Details
- Stepdown Cardiac unit contracted to the ED to care for inpatient/CICU level holds in the ED
- Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, heart failure, sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, and pneumonia
- Overflow coverage for medical, surgical, trauma, oncology, and orthopedic patients
- Cares for post-cath patients with stents (no CABG), ICD/pacer insertions, and cardioversions
- Manages and titrates drips including Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labetalol, Dopamine, and Dobutamine
- Uses BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, and Phillips monitoring system
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating expected under a team nursing/helping hands approach to similar units
- Patient sitting assignments limited to matching clinical skill set
Requirements
- Active NH or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA or American Red Cross only)
- CPI certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with strong PCU background within the last year
- ED experience preferred but not required
- EPIC EMR experience required for first-time travelers
- 1:4 patient ratio experience required
- Skilled in cardiac drip titration, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry monitoring
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and non-invasive airway management required
- Chest tube and tracheostomy care experience preferred
- Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
- EKG test required upon arrival
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required
- Full 7-year work history with all employment gaps explained
Additional Information
- Provide stepdown-level cardiac nursing care including drip management and cardiac monitoring
- Respond to rapid response and code team activations as needed
- No Thanksgiving RTO permitted
- Drug screening must be completed within 14 days of the start date
- First-time travelers accepted only with EPIC experience and 2 years of experience
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Former employees of the facility are not eligible for consideration
- Travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at the local rate
