Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Float for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of RRT experience and Level I trauma facility experience.
Details
- Float position requiring coverage across three campuses (Marlborough, University, and Memorial), all within 20 minutes of one another
- Memorial campus includes a NICU, though floating to all campuses is expected
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), with varying shift times by campus (approximately 5:45pm-6:15am or 6:45pm-7:15am)
- Every other weekend (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) schedule
- Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations; must be able to work all 7 days as scheduled

- Works with adult critical care, emergency department, and NICU patient populations
- Performs neonatal/pediatric procedures including CPAP/BiPAP, high frequency ventilation, intubation assist, and neonatal transports
- Manages ventilator care including weaning, troubleshooting alarms, and various ventilation modes
Requirements
- MA state RRT license required in hand
- License required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of RRT experience required
- Documented acute care/trauma experience required
- Level I trauma facility experience required
- Critical care experience required
- NICU experience preferred
- BLS certification required
- NRP certification preferred
- Proficient in airway management including intubation/extubation assist, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
- Experience with chest physiotherapy and various nebulizer treatments
- Experience with medication delivery systems including MDIs and aerosol setups
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory therapy services across adult critical care, emergency department, and NICU settings as needed based on float assignment
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports when applicable
- Participate in ventilator management, weaning, and troubleshooting for patients requiring mechanical ventilation
- Perform chest physiotherapy, pulmonary hygiene, and airway suctioning as part of daily patient care
- Complete required pre-start and orientation modules, with additional annual module completion
- Pass a required Pass/Fail medication exam during orientation
- Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at standard bill rate
- Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system
- Up to 14 days of requested time off may be submitted for review, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
