Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a day-shift role requiring NY licensure, EPIC experience, and float capability across multiple surgical specialties.
Details
- 13-week assignment in the Operating Room department of a 410-bed community hospital
- Day shift, 8-hour shifts from 7am to 3:30pm
- No weekend requirements
- On-call requirement of approximately 1 call per month if needed
- 14 operating rooms with coverage for Labor & Delivery C-sections
- Patient population ranges from pediatric to adult
- Provides care across all surgical specialties except cardiac and ophthalmology
- Average of 50 procedures performed per day
- Primarily a circulating position, though scrub experience is a valuable additional skill
- Float experience required to vascular, ortho, trauma, general surgery, robotic, urology, and ENT cases
- Uses EPIC EMR system
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required; compact license not accepted
- BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2+ years of current OR experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Scrub and circulate experience required
- Strong skills in vascular and orthopedic surgery required
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must have own vehicle
- Must pass a 14-panel drug screen within 24 hours of offer acceptance
- Supervisory reference from within the past two years required
- Must provide current Nursys license verification
Additional Information
- Responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing surgical patient care before, during, and after procedures
- Duties include maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment, pre/post-operative education, and monitoring patient well-being throughout the surgical continuum
- Must complete required de-escalation training (Welle, CPI, or PMCS) prior to starting
- COVID vaccination encouraged but not required
- 8 hours of non-billable orientation required
- Candidates residing in Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster, Warren, or Washington counties will not be considered
- Permanent address must match driver's license or state ID and will be verified during compliance review
- Time off requests must be submitted and approved prior to assignment start; requests after upload will not be approved
